Gaymers Cider, Mathew Clark, Is one of the UK’s largest manufactures of cider, with a range of well established brands. The company is part of the larger Constellation Group of companies. The manufacturing facilities are located in Shepton Mallett, Somerset and have an efficient effluent system monitored electronically by Wessex Water. The manufacturing facilities are state of the art and comply with latest UK and EU guidelines for the production of drinks for human consumption.
Background
The factory has seasonal increases in solid effluent as a result of annual harvests. This results in peak periods where high COD, TSS and Solids are produced.

Implementation
A site wide survey was conducted prior to the Advetec dispensing system being installed. During the evaluation period effluent samples were collected daily. Analysis was recorded independently by Wessex Water.
Analysis
During the evaluation period the levels of effluent discharged were monitored and special note was taken of the balancing tank, where 200,000 litres of effluent is stored before it is gradually discharged through the system.

Summary
Gaymers Cider signed a 24 month contract with Advetec and currently uses a product at 1.2 Litres per 24 hours in the factory, thhis is dosed through 5 dispensers. Gaymers also utilise a single dose unit on the storage tank, this is switched on and off when the tank has been filled for to store excess effluent. Currently, the company has enjoyed a financial saving in excess of £64,000, after costs of Advetec products and services.
