Agriculture is one of the highest producers of solid waste in the industrial world. With European Legislation driving farmers to store their slurry for longer periods, Advetec has, for a long time, been selling its Advetec 800 product. Which helps heavily encrusted slurry pits become stable, activated sludge beds, thereby reducing odours and making emptying of the lagoons easier. In 2007 Advetec developed a system for Envirosystems (UK) Limited called the Slurry Booster System. The system is a completely automated and injects not only bio-stimulant, but also specific strains of bacillus to metabolise ammonia in urea. The result is a system that allows the farmer to retain this valuable resource and reuse it on his farm. The system and its components, together with Advetec 800, are recognised by the organic farm growers association. The Automatic dosing System is Solar powered, providing 24/7 inoculation of lagoons or effluent pits, in turn increasing efficiency, reducing man hours and ensuring the system’s payback. |

Bio Fuels |
Advetec is currently working with major universities and private research facilities to develop products that will augment the production of bio-fuels. With the advent of global warming, changing weather patterns, European legislation and increased environmental awareness by the public, effluent and waste of any kind is proving more and more costly to dispose of. For businesses and industries that already have to conform to IPPC, and those currently having to, all are well aware of the rising costs and the impact on profitability. Major concerns in liquid effluent streams include; Odours, Fats Oils and Grease, H2S discharge, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Sludge, Phosphate and Nitrate contamination. Advetec Limited, have developed products that are Not Chemical or Bacterial, but are blends of naturally occurring plant matter that invigorate indigenous bacteria and stimulate the metabolic processes to work more efficiently. These unique and apparently simple products are dispensed into the effluent stream via the unique Advetec dispenser, which is manufactured in the UK. The effects of invigoration are that bacteria digest oils, grease, solids and other organic matter within the effluent stream. Odours are reduced as the anaerobic activity is suspended. COD and BOD are dramatically reduced as a result of cleaning the effluent stream. In addition, the volume of sludge, fats, oils and grease, that are collected, can be reduced by up to 80%. |

| Bio-stimulant technology – how it works. |
Advetec products work biologically as cell activators. They increase the metabolic rate of most micro-organisms and, by doing so, are responsible for a reduction in nutrient levels per unit of time within a wastewater and/or sludge environment. |
| Advetec products are manufactured from all natural plant extracts. The products meet all EA (Environment Agency) requirements for discharge into class 1 water (drinking water) based on independent laboratory (EPA Certified) tests. |
| Advetec products, by increasing the metabolic rate of micro-organisms, directly cause them to utilize more food (waste) in any given time period. |
| The result of this is a reduction in overall organic load, a lessening of the total solids and a reduction in the BOD/COD. A concurrent reduction in sludge volume is also a result of greater utilization of the waste per unit of time. |
| Additionally, stimulation of the resident bacteria further aids in the reduction of fats, oil and grease problems that occur in the collection system and pump stations. |
| By increasing the respiration of bacteria (primarily the aerobic bacteria) Advetec products have proved to be effective in reducing the hydrogen sulphide odour in the anaerobic slime layer in sludge. |

| Composting is developing into a major processing industry whereby green waste, grey waste (domestic rubbish) and even starch based plastics, can be treated by utilising naturally present bacteria to bio-degrade waste back into humus to enrich soil. The process involves providing the optimum conditions for bacteriological degradation. With the introduction of Advetec's' bio-stimulants, the composting process time can be significantly reduced. In trials and practical applications, the processing time can be seen to be typically reduced by 45%, with no loss of quality. |

| Landfill sites have a range of problems due to the organic, inorganic and chemical products that have been deposited over the years. Issues with leachate containing PCB's and hydrocarbons have historically made treating the effluent costly and impractical.

| Oil contamination increasingly occurs due to spillage from either tankers or bulk liquid transport units. Advetec produces a range of treatments that are specifically designed for either typical oil tanker spillage or to treat domestic fuel, oil, petrol or diesel spills. Regular applications of the product can reduce, if not eliminate, the hydrocarbon contamination. |
| Odour |
Odour problems generally occur due to organic matter decomposing, especially in anaerobic conditions. The most pungent odours occur when hydrogen sulphide or ammonia are present. If the natural bacteria present can be stimulated, and so breakdown the waste products more efficiently, odours are no longer produced. Advetec manufactures a range of products that can reduce odour in a number of industrial applications. |
